The concept of "Sola Scriptura" and inerrancy of Scripture
Sola Scriptura is a Latin expression which means ‘by Scripture alone’
- It is a theory that is specially associated with the Reformation theologians such as Martin Luther and Calvin where the belief and the practice of the churches should be grounded in Scripture.
- It is a doctrine that the Bible is the only infallible and inerrant authority for Christian faith. The days of Reformation were partly birth because the church was relying more on tradition rather than the Scriptures.
- In terms of interpreting Scriptures, Sola Scriptura is where Scripture interprets Scripture.
Inerrancy of Scriptures
Definition of Inerrancy:
There are many definitions for inerrancy such as:
1. Inerrancy pertains to what is affirmed or asserted rather than what is reported.
2. Inerrancy could be judged in terms of truthfulness of Scriptures in terms of what the statement meant to the particular culture during that time
3. Inerrancy could be judged based on the focus of the purpose it is trying to achieve
4. Inerrancy could be judged based on historical and scientific matters are in phenomenal rather than technical language.
5. Inerrancy could only be judged when the data is readily available for us to judge through time
My stand on inerrancy would be of all the above. We have to understand firstly that the Bible was written to preach the message of God and not to be read as a history or science book therefore it is what is affirmed or asserted that matters most, not what is reported.
Secondly, we have to focus on the purpose it is trying to achieve to see its inerrancy rather than the minute details.
Thirdly, we have to understand that the Bible was written for the people during that time and not to us specifically. We have to understand its accuracy through their time and culture.
Fourthly, we have to understand the historical and scientific matters from the phenomenal rather than the technical because we have to first understand that the Bible is full of supernatural matters and miracles which are beyond the measure of science or empirical studies.
Lastly, due to the distance in time and culture we may have lost the understanding of what the Scriptures meant to the original audience. But through archaeological, scientific and historical studies we would be able to understand the inerrancy of the Scriptures.
My conclusion is:
“Only truth has authority, and because the Scriptures are completely true they command ultimate authority.”

BLOG #1: IF GOD EXIST, WHAT WOULD BE THE DESCRIPTION OR IDEA OF GOD?
IF GOD EXIST, WHAT WOULD BE THE DESCRIPTION OR IDEA OF GOD?
In ancient history till today, God in many religions and cultures is known as the ‘SUPREME BEING’, one who is in control of everything and all-knowing. However some believe that God can be manipulated, that is why we have things like Feng Shui.
In today’s post-modern thinking, God would be whatever of what ‘ONE PERCEIVES IT TO BE’. He can be recognized as the God of the West with blonde hair or He can be recognized as the God of the East where the ancient literatures and cultures clearly portrays God.
I believe that God is SUPREME and not easily manipulated. God is in control of everything and He allows certain situations to happen that is always within His control. He is not boxed up in an idea of men because His thoughts and ways far exceeds our human minds.

MYTHBUSTER: THE GREAT MISCONCEPTION
“THEOLOGY ARE ONLY FOR THE SPIRITUAL ELITES”
Many people have the misconception about theology. We often assumed theology as something complex, something which only can be comprehended by the ‘spiritual elites’ who graduated in Bible seminaries with a list of credentials and academic certificates.
Has anyone tried to break down the word “Theology” before?
If you break down the word, it would be “Theo” which means ‘God’ and “Logos” which means ‘science or study’. Theology is not something complex. It is what we talk or understand about God. It can be over a cup of coffee when we share about how God has been faithful in helping us in our work. It can also happen in a movie while watching probably 2012 and asking your neighbor “Is God going to destroy the whole earth this way?”
Theology is not just for the spiritual elites. It is for everyone. It can happen anywhere. So the next thing you think about ‘theology’, think again.
THE MISCONCEPTION BUSTED!!!

Welcome to the Blog
Welcome Everyone to this blog.
Purpose of this Blog:
This is part of the course work for one of my subjects in Bible College “God, Revelation and Men – Theology I”. The objective of this course is to introduce us to the field of dogmatics (church doctrines) and to help the students to think through some theological issues in relationship to Theology (study about God), Bibliology (study about the Bible), Antropology (study about men) and Hamartialogy (study on sin).
By the end of this course, I should be able to:
1. Construct my own theological foundation for the ministry.
2. Appraise the different basic theological view concerning the above mentioned topics.
3. Acquire a reasonable knowledge to construct an apology for faith.
4. Develop skills to discern erroneous theological views.
This blog serves as a springboard and a form of learning for me and the readers.
This is where we will begin our theological talks.
WHAT I HOPE AT THE END OF THIS BLOG AND SEMESTER:
I hope that we would be able to learn from one another. I really appreciate your time and effort in contributing to this.
